In this episode, Patrick and Jaime are joined by Dr. Robin Bunce to discuss the year we’ve stepped into and its parallels to Ridley Scott’s vision of 2019, challenges and lessons. This was a deep and heady discussion, just the sort of thing we love best.

Just as rewatching Blade Runner can shed new light on the mirror that we find ourselves looking at, so can relistening to these amazing conversations. I really related to Patrick's comments about allowing ourselves to feel the pain that resonates around us so we can maintain our most humanistic traits like empathy. I truly see so many more ways that Batty is our conduit for these deeply human themes. It reminded me specifically of the Workprint death dialogue which is so fondly cherished by myself and Paul Sammon. "I watched him die all night. It was a long, slow thing and he fought it all the way. He never whimpered and he never quit. He took all the time he had as though he loved life very much. Every second of it...even the pain."

Loved this episode, especially Jaime's comments about our love for nostalgia and how it keeps us asleep to the present. If there is any powerful message I get from Blade Runner it is to wake up and be present. As much as we can fondly remember the past or look forward to the future, we might be pissing away today in the process. Gave me a few more ways I can be viligant today, thank you guys for this episode as it gives me many more conceptss to consider.
